1. Introduction

In partnership with Google Gmail, the Melbourne PC user Group is pleased to offer a seven gigabyte email mailbox for an additional email address of username@melbpc.asn.au, where username is the same as your current melbpc.org.au username.

The usernames of these melbpc.asn.au mailboxes ("The ASN Mailboxes") will be managed through Google API scripts on User Group computers. In this and all discussion in these help pages, the term "ASN Mailbox" refers to the seven gigabyte mailbox associated with the email address username@melbpc.asn.au. "ASN" is to emphasise the asn in the domain name.

Passwords will be managed both by the scripts and your log-in to The ASN Webmail Interface. These ASN Mailboxes will created so both the username and password are the same as your current melbpc.org.au username and password.

The ASN Mailboxes will offer all the features of a Google Gmail boxes plus additional features of the Google partnership. Initially it is suggested they can be used as a seven gigabyte mailbox for both  your username@melbpc.asn.au and your username@melbpc.org.au email when set up as described in these help pages. Once set up, all email can be read and downloaded from one mailbox, so your email can be addressed to either your username@melbpc.asn.au or your username@melbpc.org.au email address.

Other means of use are possible, but the described procedure where email is frequently automatically transferred from your ten megabyte melbpc.org.au mailbox to the seven gigabyte ASN Mailbox and then downloaded to your computer with your present email programe is the simplest.

Scripts are being developed to integrate the management of ASN mailboxes within the Internet management system. Currently, application is through a separate interface accessible through the Registration Page of these Help pages.

Please note that no change are planned for the operation of the current melbpc.org.au mail box. You have the flexibility of operating a melbpc.asn.au ASN account as you wish.
